Shane’s Birthday Recap
The birthday boy

Well, as I mentioned on Tuesday, Katie and I had big plans to spoil Shane on his special day. We went shopping yesterday morning and got balloons to decorate the mailbox with, and a sign to put in the yard. Unfortunately, at the EXACT time that he was getting home, a HUGE storm cell moved thru our town, and this is what it look like outside:

This also delayed grilling the steaks, but they turned out wonderfully anyway. It was worth the wait I think.
Check out these beauties, on sale for half price at Target this week,
I marinated them in a recipe of Shane’s grandmothers, they were SO good! See for yourself (sorry I can’t offer you a bite, they were every bit as good as Texas Roadhouse.)

Katie did a great job setting the table and wrapping the gifts. Here is the table setting she chose.

Here is a picture of Shane’s gifts:

He got a shirt, some coffee beans, some books and…

a picture frame made from a re-purposed computer circuit board,
For dessert, I used a whole bunch of these little guys ( and their big brothers)

for my first attempt at a favorite of Shane’s, Key Lime pie.

It turned out well, but I am glad I added as much whipped cream as I did to balance out the tartness. Shane had fun teasing me as we ate because I made the “boy is this tart face” everytime I took a bite.
All in all, we had a nice night, and today we get the added bonus of having Shane home, he has another long weekend, woo hoo!
