Bits and pieces of my thirtysomething life

About My Scrapbooking

May25

I am a digital scrapbooker, and always have been. I can count the number of paper layouts I have done on one hand. Digital is economical, and works well for our tech savy family. I can utilize the VERY latest trends in my scrapping as they appear in the industry, without waiting for product to appear in my local scrapbooking store. And I can share my layouts all over the Internet if I choose, and print multiple copies for family members with ease.

I began digi scrapping in October 2003, and became a Design Team Member at the very first digi scrapping website, www.scrapbookbytes.com, in March of 2004. Since that time, I have been on numerous creative teams, and have been blessed to use the products of many talented digital designers.

In 2006, I read a book by Simple Scrapbooks founder Stacy Julian, that changed my scrapping system forever. It was called the Big Picture. I then took her class, Library of Memories,at her site, bigpicturescrapbooking.com, which helps you implement the organizational system and make it all your own. My photos and my approach to scrapping our families memories will never be the same!

Around that same time period, I read another book that changed the DESIGN aspect of my layouts. For too long, I had been creating layouts that I just wasn’t happy with, using the newest trends to emerge in digi-land. I found that the layouts that made me happiest, were the simple ones. Photos and words. So when I read my scrapping idol, Cathy Zielske’s first book, it was a true epiphany for me. Clean and Simple, books one and two, along with Cathy’s About Design Column in Simple Scrapbooks are some of my most referred to resources in my scrapping library.

In September 2008 I was thrilled to take CZ’s class at Big Picture Scrapbooking called Design Your Life, and I also got to meet Cathy when she came to Kansas City for a CK convention. (What a HUGE thrill it was for me to be in a room with her and 45 others ladies! I cannot even begin to tell you!)

So in a nutshell, I am a Clean and Simple digital scrapbooker, creating and organizing my families Library of Memories, :)

Whew, I guess I could have just said that in the beginning, huh?  LOL
