I’m Back!!!

Would you believe that there are actually a few souls on this planet that have missed my little rantings? LOL, I know it surprised the heck out of me too! J Thank you so much to all of you that have encouraged me to begin blogging again, I actually have missed it.

What to tell you first? I am majorly deep cleaning my house getting ready for company on T-giving. I have been cleaning the woodwork in my house and let me tell you, I was pretty grossed out when I was done. Who knew that it was that dirty, it didnโ€™t look it J
But it does look really fabulous now, not that anyone other than me will notice.

Oh I have a new baby since the last time I blogged. Some of you know how much I love my mp3 player, a Carbon Rio. It went with me pretty much everywhere I went. LOVED that thing. But it started acting freaky, and after checking a few message boards, I realized this was a common problem, so off I went to Best Buy to exchange it.

Well imagine my surprise when I went browsing the mp3 section and I cannot find a single Rio ANYWHERE. Rio is apparently going out of business so BB no longer carries them.

So after looking at the only other mp3 they had (Creative, which just were not CUTE enough for me) the guy showed me the newest ipod. Now, we are NOT Apple people here. I have to say that upfront. But good gracious, that sucker was CUTE! I got the black one, very groovy. It is the video ipod, so I can put pictures, layouts etc on it, watch video podcasts, and tv shows. Plus room for my entire music collection and then some.
What can I say, I left the store with my new ipod and have been a goner ever since J

Oh and by the way, even if you do not have an ipod, you should still download itunes 6,
just so you can download and watch Photoshop TV with Scott Kelby. There are 5 episodes I think now (new ones every Monday) It is loads of fun, with lots of great info too.

Now of course dh had a cow when he heard that I got the ipod. He declared that I had crossed over to the Dark Side, LOL Thatโ€™s Ok though, because he knows that it will get passed down to him when I upgrade.

Well this has been much longer than I intended, LOL I have to go finish cleaning my house, and start my cooking. But before I do, let me pause for a grateful moment. I still shake my head in wonder at how many wonderful cyber friends I have. It just amazes me that people from so many different places, backgrounds, etc can come together in such a
wonderful community and support each other. Thank you so much for what you add to my life.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh yeah baby!

I am the type of person that if I receive poor service at an establishment, you will probably hear from me about it. But I also strive to be the type of person that compliments people if I receive good service.

Today, I have a happy little story about Starbucks, ๐Ÿ™‚
Last winter I bought the COOLEST mug from Starbucks (on clearance baby!)
It is the Extreme Tumbler, wicked cool mug let me tell ya. But what attracted me to it
was the fact that it was Candy Apple Red, the color of my future Mustang convertable.
So I bought, loved and adored this mug. But then the fabulous Candy Apple Red color began to bubble and peel. ๐Ÿ™

The last time I was at Starbucks I asked one of the sales people about it and they said to call
Customer service. Well I did and the lady was SO nice. She said they would send me a gift card ASAP to replace my Extreme Tumbler, and that perhaps the Candy Apple Red color would be back for the holidays (majorly crossing my fingers on that one let me tell you). The full retail price of my mug was around 15 bucks I think, so imagine my delight and surprise when my gift card arrvied and it was for 30 dollars!!!!

A mug and quite a few lattes baby! Gotta love those folks at Starbucks!

On another note, have any of my scrapper friends heard those commercials lately that have to do with colors? Can’t remember who it is for, but I have totally been laughing my butt off about those. If you have not heard them here’s one:

“I went in to the store and asked for a yellow pad, but that is clearly not what I got. Anyone can plainly see that this is a cross between canary yellow and goldenrod.” I laugh EVERY time I hear those!

Hope you all are having a great week so far. We started school this week, and my computer is still down, so I am a bit behind. So if I owe you an email, please be patient with me, ๐Ÿ™‚
I am hopefully buying an external hard drive and getting my computer cleared so dh can format it, YIKES! But I miss my ‘puter, ๐Ÿ™‚

Later gators!

It’s Friday!!!!!

I am such a bad blogger, LOL I really think that my blog is just a bunch of crazy ramblings, and while I have started several in my head, I keep thinking, oh that is so stupid, no one is gonna want to read about that.

But I am once again firmly telling myself, this is who I am, and if people read and enjoy-
Great! If not, I will be sad, LOL

All is not well in the land of Becki. My computer has some major registry problem and I cannot connect to the internet. Dh and I are sharing his computer, but I am totally stressed because all my scrapping stuff is on mine.

So I decide yesterday that dd and I will bake a peach pie together (if I cannot create a layout, then I will create thru cooking, see the connection?) Sadly, MY OVEN WONโ€T HEAT! So instead I made homemade tortillas, YUM!
So dh has to look at the oven this weekend, grrrrrrrr! I think I found out what is wrong with it online, but it is still $$$$$ ๐Ÿ™

A friend and I have been massively decluttering and cleaning our homes. It has been really fun talking with her and sharing our accomplishments. I am proud to say, my home is looking pretty good. Of course dd watched the trash men taking our trash away this week and said โ€œThatโ€™s an awful lot of trash Mama. Do you think they can take it all?โ€ LOL.

So I went to Target last night, โ€˜cuz I just HAD to get out of the house and I found a โ€œgood thingโ€ ๐Ÿ™‚ Dh says I am a sucker for good packaging in a product, and he is right. So it should not have surprised me when I went down the cleaner aisle and fell in love with the cleaner shown above. I love the scent (pink grapefruit) and definitely the clean and simple label (thatโ€™s me, a clean and simple girl) I would expect that hanging circle alpha
to be showing up in a few Becki layouts in the near future. LOL

Well I guess that is all for now, Happy FRIDAY! Woo hoo! Oh and donโ€™t forget-
Camp SBB next week! I never got to go to camp as a kid so I am very excited about
all this! I am in Cabin #1 with all the cool people ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great weekend everyone!

FIL’s flowers & more

Today was a good day. It feels good to say that every so often doesn’t it? J

My father in law is an avid gardener, and he has these flowers in his garden called
“naked ladies”. The scientific name for them is Amaryllis belladona and they are sometimes known as belladonna lilies, but we all refer to them as the naked ladies. LOL. They only bloom for a few days each year, and my father in law really loves them. I have tried each year to capture a really awesome photo of them, but this year I think I finally succeeded. I got up REALLY early (6:00 AM mind you!) to be at
their house by 7:00 so I could get that awesome morning light. I think it was totally
worth it. I also really like the pic I got of my mother in law’s black eyed susans.

After I got home, I fixed French toast for dh and dd for breakfast (with some of FIL’s
fresh eggs, yum! Then we went to a small kids festival that a local bank puts on every year at a local park. They had the usual safety stuff, K seemed to have fun.

The coolest part for the Mama though was the Lifeflight helicopter. We have seen it before at an airshow, it’s kinda neat to look inside it and stuff. (Remember I love everything planes, and space and stuff). But the cool thing today was, we were there when the helicopter took off!

They were asking everyone to step back a safe distance, and I did, at first, LOL I wanted
some clear shots of it as it took off , and being short, there were people’s heads in my way. So I walked over by an EMT and started shooting. He started to say something,
but he looked at my camera (I had my big lens on, LOL) and he just smiled.

It was so COOL when they started up the engine, the wind was blowing, it was a total rush let me tell ya! The pics do not so it justice! Now I cannot wait for next year’s airshow at the base. (The first female Thunderbird will be there, woo hoo!)

Ok, sadly there is nothing scrapbook related about this post other than a few pics.
Oh wait, I am gonna host the Midnight scrap tonight (12 am EST) because Miss Jodi is on vacation, so if you are a night owl and you want to scrap, come join me. I have not done a page ALL WEEK LONG, eeeekkkk!

Getting back on track….

Ok, it isn’t that I haven’t had tons to say in the last few days, I truly have! I have started at least five blog entries in my mind, I just never got the time to sit down and write them out like I wanted to.

Last week, dh took Wed-Fri off from work, I love having him home, but that in and of itself changes
our routine. He took those days off because of our little town’s annual Friendship Festival. Our church had a booth and we passed out water and sunscreen to people who were there enjoying the festival.

So guess who was there taking pictures of all the fun? ๐Ÿ™‚ And guess who did not take advantage of the sunscreen? Those would both be me. See I never used to burn, EVER. So I wore a tank top, saying to myself, I could use a little sun. Well I definitely got a little sun. It hurt a little bit, but I was not even close to expecting to be physically ill that night, and then the next day to have my arms start itching so bad I thought I was going to break out in tears! I am convinced this should be a new form of torture for war criminals, MAN ALIVE! Luckily Walmart is open 24 hours and I was able to go get some spray stuff that got rid of the itching, cuz it was AWFUL!!!

Saturday was the end of the festival, and the annual parade. You know the Norman Rockwell, old fashioned kind? Katie gathered quite a bit of candy, (and even shared some with other children, woo hoo!) and had a great time. I love the look on her face as she waits in anticipation as the parade goes by.

Let’s see what else is new on the old homefront? Oh some great news: Our little friend Micah is continuing to amaze everyone around him with his progress. He is eating and talking and yesterday he took some steps on his way back from Physical therapy, Praise God! His goal is to be able to return to school on the very first day, so we are continuing to lift him in prayer.

Our grapes should be ripe in the next few weeks, so we will be up to our eyeballs in grape jelly, I can’t wait! Katie and I really love that time of year, she loves to help me with the jelly making.

Dh finally finished up the new front page of my website, I think it looks pretty good. Stop by if you have a minute and let me know what you think. www.beckiwright.com

Well, I think that is all the meaningless tidbits I can think of for now, so I am off to get caught up on everyone else’s blogs, ๐Ÿ™‚ and print off some more layouts, I am WAY behind.

I like to think of myself…

as being somewhat tech savvy. I know my way around the computer pretty well, I digi scrap, my life is in my Palm pilot, I am permanently attached to my mp3 player.

But today I felt like a raving idiot! I wanted to to tweak my blog a little bit, and put all the extra stuff on the sides, and frankcassiesomom (Kim) offered to help me during a crop yesterday.

Let me just say there is a REASON why html is called CODE. I have never felt so out of it in my life!
Kim was so so so incredible patient!!!! I made a tiny little breakthrough there toward the end, and I did start to see a method to the madness, but MAN ALIVE! Thanks so much Kim, I OWE you big time!

So last night I showed dh what she had taught me, he said “Great”, thinking I think, that this meant he was off the hook, LOL. Then I handed him a list of all the things I needed him to add to my blog, ๐Ÿ™‚ And being the fantastic hubby that he is, HE DID. I am so happy!

But I have to say, I think I do want to learn CSS now. Now that my eyes are opened just a little tiny bit.

A friend of mine suggested that we take a picture that represents our day, and post them. So I was gonna post a pic of html code, but I decided on this one instead. We had yummy grilled corn on the cob with basil and garlic flavored butter for dinner last night, YUM!

I also grilled chicken, but it got a little overdone when I took a phone call. Dd complained that it was burnt, but I said “No honey it is Blackened chicken, it’s supposed to be like that.” I am so bad!
Actually I don’t like burnt things either, but this was good, it stayed moist inside.

And I was able to scrap last night!!! woo hoo! (While poor hubby was working on my blog)
Lauren gave a great inspriation in the Calendar crop. My layout is posted over there on the left, I love the way it turned out.

Ok, I am late getting this posted, so I am off to start my day today now, LOL.

Well, here we go sportsfans…

Ok, so I am taking the blogging plunge! I don’t really know why, I can’t say that I am as witty as some or that I have tons of interesting things to say (note the word interesting, anyone who knows me, knows that I have tons to say, ๐Ÿ™‚

With everything that is going on lately, I only created one layout today, and it looks simple but I actually spent a while on it. I was inspired by the AL calendar and simple scrapbooks magazine, the simple shortcuts one that just came out.
Side note: SS Inspirations has been on my desk constantly for the last month, IT ROCKS! I am hoping the Shortcuts one is as good, I think it will be.

Anyway, we did a family photo shoot on 4th of July. It was a rushed, frustrated affair, but we ended up with a few good pics. Not totally thrilled with the lighting, I had some serious hot spots, but it has been forever since we did family pics, and we were seeing all of Shane’s family that night, so I toughed it out, even though I HATED the way my hair turned out.

SO I have been scrapping those pics of late, and today I took single pics of Shane and I and created a layout of US. Because next week, we will be celebrating 15 years of being together. Our first date was July 27, 1990. MAN does that make me feel OLD. And although my beloved husband says that wedding anniversaries cancel out all other anniversaries, I don’t feel that way. I think every milestone in life needs to be acknowledged and celebrated.

Which brings me to my Quote of the Day. I posted a layout http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=96216&cat=500&ppuser=1627 where I put this in the description:
“Dh does not get my taking pics of peoples backs, LOL but I realy like this.”
LeeAndra, who totally cracks me up all the time with the way she puts things, said the following:

“He doesn’t have to ‘get’ it, just accept it and move on. “ ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t think LA meant to be totally profound, but MAN ALIVE!!!
I need to repeat this to myself over and over, not just about dh but everyone! So what if very few people understand my passion for photography and scrapbooking. So what if people look at me funny when I am trying to explain to them about a picture I just HAD to take, because I saw it so clearly in my mind. Accept it and move on, I LOVE IT
BTW, look for a picture of GRASS in the near future. Once I get the pic that I see in my mind then I will tell you that whole story.

Now aren’t you all painfully sorry you told me I should start a blog?
