End of Chemo

Hi friends in blogland!Yes, things are somewhat returning to normal around here, and I may even have time to blog now and then. Did you know that you can have your blog printed? I saw that service offered at a site I went to yesterday, to have some mini books printed. Kinda made me think about posting more, now that it is something that could be made tangible, and kept for the future generations. I don’t know, maybe I am just goofy. Yeah that’s it.

Well, the AWESOME news is that Shane is finally done with his chemo, Praise God! Here is the update that Shane sent to all our family and friends:

Hello everyone,
It has been awhile since I sent out an update. I reached a
milestone event and figured now was a good time. My last chemo
treatment was August 24th. I met with my doctor that day and he
scheduled me for a CAT scan 5 weeks from then and another appointment
with him one week later. Assuming the CAT scan looks good, he said I
would only need one more PET scan by the end of the year. The short
version is that “I am done”. From here on out it will be a case of
follow-up with the doctor and periodic scans to make sure nothing
comes back. Praise God!

Once again I want to thank all of you for your prayers. The Lord has
blessed my family and me more than we deserve. I know it is because
of the faithful prayers of friends and family. Your encouragement and
support have been invaluable.

May the Lord bless you and your families at this time. He is
faithful. He is sovereign. Things don’t always go the way we want but
knowing that the Lord is in control gives me peace. I pray that it
does for you as well.

Until next time,

Shane

And I wanted to tell all of you again, how truly thankful we are for all everyone has done for us.
As I was wading thru 6 months of emails the other day, (man oh man, that sucked) I saw all the emails of encouragement that all of you sent, and I was just overwhelmed all over again. it meant so much and continues to do so.

So things are settling down around here. It has taken Shane a little longer this time to rebound from his treatment, but he is doing better now. We started school this week, and Katie is doing well. She made some KILLER banana bread yesterday for home ec, I will post some pics and our recipe tomorrow.

Been getting back in the swing of things at SBB in the last few days. I even hosted a crop last night to fill in for a DTM who’s son was ill. (Hope he is doing much better today Amy, praying for you guys) I made a template for the crop, that was so fun. Been making some for myself lately, so I may start sharing some of them here, and you can download them from 4shared and use them in your scrapping.

Well, I better run, tons to do today, have a wonderful weekend everyone!

If you were a little girl in the 70’s

I did not write this, but boy, I sure could have, LOL, I said yes to so many of these!
See if you don’t do the same  🙂  This could be a scrapbook layout at some point, 🙂

If YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70’S …

You had that Fisher Price Doctor ‘s Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked.
You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it.
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels.
You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!)
You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.
You had rubber boots for rainy days and Moon boots for snowy days.

You owned a “Slip-n-Slide”, on which you injured yourself on a sprinkler head more than once.
You owned “Klick-Klacks” and smacked yourself in the face more than once.
You had either a “bowl cut” or “pixie,” not to mention the “Dorothy Hamill”. People sometimes thought you were a boy.
Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.
You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.
You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple satiny shredded outfits.

You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze.
The swing set tipped over at least once.
You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (Oh yeah!)

You had a pair of Doctor Scholl’s sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle).
You also had a pair of salt-water sandals. (is this an east coast thing??)

You wanted to be Laura In galls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!

You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink.!

Your hairstyle was described as having “wings” or “feathers” and you kept it “pretty” with the comb you kept in your back pocket. When you walked, the “wings” flapped up and down, looked like you were gonna “take off”

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic. With the thermos inside!

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.

YOU had Star Wars action figures, too!

It was a big event in your household each year when the “Wizard of Oz” would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!

You often asked your Magic-8 ball the question: “Who will I marry. Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or David Cassidy..?”

You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack record album.

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God’s eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.

You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.

You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It’s me, Margaret.)

You thought Olivia Newton John’s song “Physical” was about aerobics.

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.
You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.
You drowned yourself in Love’s Baby Soft – which was the first “real” perfume you ever owned .. .

You glopped your lips in Lip Smackers Strawberry Roll-on lip gloss till it almost dripped off.

Have a good one everyone!

wow, getting caught up

Man the holidays threw me for a loop! I feel like I am just now getting caught up to some degree. We started back with school yesterday, and I have started the annual first of the year
“Super Fling Boogy” with Flylady. (Check out www. Flylday.net If you are unsure of what I am talking about)

SBB is really hopping these days. We have some great crops going on. And wow, were you at Gina Miller’s Launch party crop the other night? I popped in for a bit and there was 120 people in the chat room, it was rockin’! Quite a welcome for Miss Gina. In a couple of weeks SBB will celebrate its 3 rd bday, can you believe it? Lots of great s tuff in the works for that.

K’s bday is coming up next week and I cannot believe my baby is going to be 8 years old.
I am one of those pathetic mothers that actually get depressed around my child’s birthdays, 🙂
But we are going to Build a Bear with her cousin for her birthday this year so that should be a lot of fun.

What else is news? Did I tell you all that K got a dog for Christmas? Long, wonderful story, it will all be chronicled in layout form soon so I won’t bore you here. But Molly is a lovely, sweet hearted, obedient dog whom K and I adore. And she is so completely the opposite of Copper that even Shane might grudgingly admit that he likes her. It really made for a neat Christmas.

Well that is the condensed version of getting you caught up, one of my goals for the new year is to stick with this bloggin thing, so look for lots more entries from me.

IMAGINE

When I answer the popular question, Beatles or Rolling Stones, my answer is ALWAYS the Beatles, mostly because I HATE the Stones. (Please no hate mail, 🙂

But I would not call myself a Beatles fan. I am not old enough to say I grew up with their music, I cannot say that I remember when John Lennon was shot 25 years ago. I was amazed to find out that one of my favorite Mary Chapin Carpenter tunes was actually written by John Lennon. (Grow Old With Me, in case any of you are wondering)

But John’s song Imagine has always been a song I liked. How can you not? It is timeless, classic,
beautiful, there are not adjectives enough. You CANNOT hear that song without stopping to think, and IMAGINE what it would be like. That’s powerful stuff.

I truly feel that art in any form can be moving. Whether it is music or a painting, a sculpture or a picture. When I saw this picture today, I was moved. And I heard the song begin to play in my head. I hope you do as well.

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

I’m Back!!!

Would you believe that there are actually a few souls on this planet that have missed my little rantings? LOL, I know it surprised the heck out of me too! J Thank you so much to all of you that have encouraged me to begin blogging again, I actually have missed it.

What to tell you first? I am majorly deep cleaning my house getting ready for company on T-giving. I have been cleaning the woodwork in my house and let me tell you, I was pretty grossed out when I was done. Who knew that it was that dirty, it didn’t look it J
But it does look really fabulous now, not that anyone other than me will notice.

Oh I have a new baby since the last time I blogged. Some of you know how much I love my mp3 player, a Carbon Rio. It went with me pretty much everywhere I went. LOVED that thing. But it started acting freaky, and after checking a few message boards, I realized this was a common problem, so off I went to Best Buy to exchange it.

Well imagine my surprise when I went browsing the mp3 section and I cannot find a single Rio ANYWHERE. Rio is apparently going out of business so BB no longer carries them.

So after looking at the only other mp3 they had (Creative, which just were not CUTE enough for me) the guy showed me the newest ipod. Now, we are NOT Apple people here. I have to say that upfront. But good gracious, that sucker was CUTE! I got the black one, very groovy. It is the video ipod, so I can put pictures, layouts etc on it, watch video podcasts, and tv shows. Plus room for my entire music collection and then some.
What can I say, I left the store with my new ipod and have been a goner ever since J

Oh and by the way, even if you do not have an ipod, you should still download itunes 6,
just so you can download and watch Photoshop TV with Scott Kelby. There are 5 episodes I think now (new ones every Monday) It is loads of fun, with lots of great info too.

Now of course dh had a cow when he heard that I got the ipod. He declared that I had crossed over to the Dark Side, LOL That’s Ok though, because he knows that it will get passed down to him when I upgrade.

Well this has been much longer than I intended, LOL I have to go finish cleaning my house, and start my cooking. But before I do, let me pause for a grateful moment. I still shake my head in wonder at how many wonderful cyber friends I have. It just amazes me that people from so many different places, backgrounds, etc can come together in such a
wonderful community and support each other. Thank you so much for what you add to my life.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh yeah baby!

I am the type of person that if I receive poor service at an establishment, you will probably hear from me about it. But I also strive to be the type of person that compliments people if I receive good service.

Today, I have a happy little story about Starbucks, 🙂
Last winter I bought the COOLEST mug from Starbucks (on clearance baby!)
It is the Extreme Tumbler, wicked cool mug let me tell ya. But what attracted me to it
was the fact that it was Candy Apple Red, the color of my future Mustang convertable.
So I bought, loved and adored this mug. But then the fabulous Candy Apple Red color began to bubble and peel. 🙁

The last time I was at Starbucks I asked one of the sales people about it and they said to call
Customer service. Well I did and the lady was SO nice. She said they would send me a gift card ASAP to replace my Extreme Tumbler, and that perhaps the Candy Apple Red color would be back for the holidays (majorly crossing my fingers on that one let me tell you). The full retail price of my mug was around 15 bucks I think, so imagine my delight and surprise when my gift card arrvied and it was for 30 dollars!!!!

A mug and quite a few lattes baby! Gotta love those folks at Starbucks!

On another note, have any of my scrapper friends heard those commercials lately that have to do with colors? Can’t remember who it is for, but I have totally been laughing my butt off about those. If you have not heard them here’s one:

“I went in to the store and asked for a yellow pad, but that is clearly not what I got. Anyone can plainly see that this is a cross between canary yellow and goldenrod.” I laugh EVERY time I hear those!

Hope you all are having a great week so far. We started school this week, and my computer is still down, so I am a bit behind. So if I owe you an email, please be patient with me, 🙂
I am hopefully buying an external hard drive and getting my computer cleared so dh can format it, YIKES! But I miss my ‘puter, 🙂

Later gators!

It’s Friday!!!!!

I am such a bad blogger, LOL I really think that my blog is just a bunch of crazy ramblings, and while I have started several in my head, I keep thinking, oh that is so stupid, no one is gonna want to read about that.

But I am once again firmly telling myself, this is who I am, and if people read and enjoy-
Great! If not, I will be sad, LOL

All is not well in the land of Becki. My computer has some major registry problem and I cannot connect to the internet. Dh and I are sharing his computer, but I am totally stressed because all my scrapping stuff is on mine.

So I decide yesterday that dd and I will bake a peach pie together (if I cannot create a layout, then I will create thru cooking, see the connection?) Sadly, MY OVEN WON”T HEAT! So instead I made homemade tortillas, YUM!
So dh has to look at the oven this weekend, grrrrrrrr! I think I found out what is wrong with it online, but it is still $$$$$ 🙁

A friend and I have been massively decluttering and cleaning our homes. It has been really fun talking with her and sharing our accomplishments. I am proud to say, my home is looking pretty good. Of course dd watched the trash men taking our trash away this week and said “That’s an awful lot of trash Mama. Do you think they can take it all?” LOL.

So I went to Target last night, ‘cuz I just HAD to get out of the house and I found a “good thing” 🙂 Dh says I am a sucker for good packaging in a product, and he is right. So it should not have surprised me when I went down the cleaner aisle and fell in love with the cleaner shown above. I love the scent (pink grapefruit) and definitely the clean and simple label (that’s me, a clean and simple girl) I would expect that hanging circle alpha
to be showing up in a few Becki layouts in the near future. LOL

Well I guess that is all for now, Happy FRIDAY! Woo hoo! Oh and don’t forget-
Camp SBB next week! I never got to go to camp as a kid so I am very excited about
all this! I am in Cabin #1 with all the cool people 🙂

Have a great weekend everyone!

BARGAIN alert

So Katie and I are at Target yesterday (I LOVE TARGET) and in the dollar spot section I made the greatest find!
They have these wooden frames over there (for a buck) and they have 6×6 frames!

These are perfect for framing layouts! Glue a metal embellishment or two to the frame, it makes a great gift, too!

I love a good bargain, LOL I’ll post a pic later, dh took my camera to work with him, I feel so lost without my baby! 🙂 Oh yeah, I miss dh too! Sorry I couldn’t resist~ LOVE YOU HONEY!
